Low-level laser therapy is proven in clinical trials for enhancing hair growth and hair density by photo-stimulation of hair follicles.
It is approved by FDA to treat hair loss in both male and female. It is also the only approved treatment that doesn’t involve drugs or surgery.
No serious side effects were reported in clinical trials. The minor side effects, if any, are dry skin, irritation or warm sensation at the site.
Compared with cumbersome daily usage of drugs, the treatment with low-level laser therapy is much easier. A treatment of a few minutes each time for three times per week is all that is required and there is nothing left on scalp.
Currently, there are two common types of low-level laser therapy devices available. They are laser comb and laser headband. Both are small handy devices that can be used conveniently any time at home.
